Why You’re Always Tired (It’s Not Just Age)Aug 30, 2026Feeling tired all the time is common, but you do not have to accept it as normal. Here Dr. Colbert explains what drains your energy, from poor sleep to struggling mitochondria, and the simple daily changes that help you feel like yourself again.
What drains your energy, and what restores it
Fatigue usually has more than one cause. Dr. Colbert looks at the whole person: how you sleep, what you eat, how you handle stress and what your lab numbers say.
- Protect your sleep. Seven to nine hours, a steady bedtime and morning daylight help reset your body clock.
- Steady your blood sugar. Protein and healthy fat at breakfast prevent the mid-morning crash.
- Calm stress hormones. Chronic stress keeps cortisol high and leaves you wired and tired. Start with these habits to lower cortisol naturally.
- Check your nutrients. Low vitamin D, iron or B12 can sap energy. Learn the truth about vitamin D and whether a daily multivitamin makes sense for you.
- Rule out a thyroid problem. If fatigue comes with weight gain or feeling cold, review these signs you may need thyroid or hormone support and talk with your doctor.
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31, KJV)
