Independence Day Keto Zone Berries and Cream Dessert

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese (cream cheese is an optional substitute)
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon stevia drops (vanilla stevia optional)
  • 1/4 cup berries per serving (raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries)

Instructions

1. Place all ingredients except berries in a large, chilled, metal bowl. Using an electric mixer on high speed, whip ingredients together until combined and thick.

2. To serve, place a small number of berries in the bottom of glass or bowl (about 2 tablespoons). Add cream. Then, top with remaining 2 tablespoons berries (just 1/4 cup berries per serving).

Note: For a beautiful presentation, scoop the mixed cream into a piping bag (or large baggie). Pipe cream over berries. If using a baggie, snip off a small portion of the corner of bag with scissors, and pipe through the opening.

Serves 12.

3 Reasons to Choose This Keto Zone Berries and Cream Dessert

1. Berries Add a Nutrient-Dense Natural Sweet. They contain:

  • High levels of antioxidants. The antioxidants in berries fight oxidative stress in the body, which can reduce oxidized cholesterol and damage from free radicals.
  • Reduced blood pressure. A recent research review found that 100 grams of blueberries consumed daily, for 14 days, was associated with a significant reduction in systolic blood pressure (1).
  • Fiber. Like many fruits and vegetables, berries offer soluble and insoluble fiber, which is great for cholesterol, digestion, and more.
  • Improved cholesterol readings. In a recent study, researchers found daily berry consumption reduced LDL cholesterol, blood pressure, and fasting glucose (2).

2. It’s a Keto Zone Fat Bomb. Fat Bombs:

  • Increase speed and ability to get into ketosis
  • Bust cravings
  • Reduce total calorie intake and improve weight loss

3. It’s Red, White, and Blue!

You can never have too many patriotic colors on the table for a 4th of July celebration!

5 Reasons to Skip Non-Keto Zone Desserts

Most desserts are laden with sugars, refined grains, and unhealthy fats. Oftentimes, they also contain dyes, artificial flavorings, and other “junk” ingredients.

Keto Zone desserts are different. Not only are they low carb and high fat, but they also derive their beautiful hues from healthy, real foods.

Plain and simple: Too much sugar is unhealthy. It goes beyond weight and weight loss. When you overeat carbohydrates and refined grains, they:

1. Increase your risk of chronic disease. In fact, high sugar intake is linked to increased inflammation, cardiovascular disease, high triglycerides (3, 4), obesity, diabetes, digestive issues, metabolic syndrome (5), and more.

2. Increase your body’s production of insulin. Which can lead to increased fat storage, insulin resistance, increased blood sugars, and more. This is especially true for liquid sugars (6). In fact, sodas are one “sugary treat” that do a lot of harm to health.

3. May change your brain to crave more sugar. In fact, researchers have found that excessive sugar consumption may trigger neuron adaptations that may contribute to compulsive overeating and sugar addictions (6).

4. Might cause a “sugar crash” and low mood. In fact, in one research review, scientists concluded that there was an “adverse effect of higher sugar intake on mental health cross-sectionally and 5 years later in a study based on 23,245 repeated measures in men and women aged between 39 and 83.” These scientists were studying the incidence of high sugar intake and common mental disorders (CMD) (7).

5. Will halt the production of ketones. It doesn’t take much to signal your body to stop making ketones once you begin overeating carbohydrates. In fact, most desserts have enough carbohydrates in a single serving to do so. Many contain 40-60 grams of carbohydrates (mostly from sugar) in one slice or serving. Unfortunately, there is typically very little protein, fiber, or healthy fats alongside the sugar, leaving the food utterly empty of good nutrition.

Bottom Line

Celebrate this Independence Day with our quick, easy, and delicious Keto Zone Berries and Cream Dessert! Not only does it contain the benefits of berries, but it’s also a fat bomb that keeps you in ketosis. And, there’s none of the high-sugar, junk ingredients found in typical desserts. Serve and enjoy!
