Live Longer By Including These Veggies In Your Diet

In case you needed a bit more motivation to head to the local farmer’s market this year, a new study published in the International Journal of Epidemiology shows decreased risk of premature death in individuals who consume 10 servings of vegetables and fruit each day!

This number falls within the 5-13 serving range that is generally recommended. The research found that the minimum of 5 servings did reduce disease risk, but the greatest benefit came from 10 servings, or about 800g of fruit and vegetables (one serving is 80g).

An estimated 7.8 million premature deaths can be prevented with this level of vegetable consumption.

The research from Imperial College London consisted of a meta-analysis of 95 previous studies on the effects of vegetable and fruit intake. The researchers sought all available information worldwide which included over 2 million participants.

Study co-author Dr. Dagfinn Aune explains that “fruit and vegetables have been shown to reduce cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and to boost the health of our blood vessels and immune system. This may be due to the complex network of nutrients they hold. For instance they contain many antioxidants, which may reduce DNA damage, and lead to a reduction in cancer risk.”

The study also analyzed which particular foods were most beneficial for certain conditions. High fiber fruits and veggies such as leafy and cruciferous vegetables, apples, pears, and chicory root were found to help prevent cardiovascular disease, heart attack, and stroke. Colorful high antioxidant fruit and veggies such as bell peppers, carrots, beets, and dark leafy greens were found to reduce cancer risk.

But how is one supposed to get 10 servings of vegetables in every single day? Buying and preparing fresh produce can be costly and time consuming. That’s why a high quality greens powder supplement is such a valuable ally in the journey towards optimal health.

Dr. Don Colbert’s Fermented Green Supremefood features 10 certified organic vegetables (carrot, beet, parsley, spinach, broccoli, kale, cabbage, onion, pea protein, and kelp) and 4 certified organic gasses (barley grass, alfalfa grass, wheat grass, and oat grass) which have all been fermented to unlock to the full power of their nutritional potential! In addition to the veggies, the formula includes added probiotics, enzymes, fiber, algae, and an herbal blend to aid in digestion, detoxification, and satiety.

Each scoop of this powerful blend contains the antioxidant equivalent of 6 servings of fruit and vegetables! Now that can go a long way in supplementing a vegetable deficient diet! Although greens powders should not completely replace your fresh fruit and vegetable consumption, this delicious, easy, portable, and shelf-stable formula still delivers powerful nutrition that we could all use more of!
