You can slow the aging of your cells in 24 hours.

How?

Use our 10 Anti-Aging Habits during each day, and improve the health and aging of cells throughout the body.

And, they are all free.

10 Free Anti-Aging Habits in 24 Hours, Part 1

In Part 1 of this series, we covered the first part of the day. We took care of our bodies in mostly physical ways. The 2nd half is a bit more mental-health focused, and it’s largely about reducing stress and cortisol.

While we may not be able to control everything that happens to us in a day, we can do our best to reduce stress, react to stress in healthful ways, and prioritize downtime and quality time with others.

If we follow the life of Christ, we see that He prioritized downtime and quality time. He spent a lot of time with His followers, loved ones, and friends. He took long walks, practiced solitude, and broke bread with others. He taught to live in the present day, without being anxious for the next.

During your evening, you can improve health by practicing many of these same things.

Stress, Cortisol, and Aging

Why focus on reducing stress for anti-aging habits?

Stress and its associated cortisol rise cause inflammatory reactions in the body. While short-term stress can have positive effects, chronic mental stress has been associated with insomnia, late-life depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, and Alzheimer’s disease as we age.

Aging alone is accompanied by an increase of 2-4 times the inflammatory plasma compounds than youth.

Combined with high cortisol levels, these changes with aging are associated with inflammatory health conditions including atherosclerosis, insulin resistance, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.

Let’s fight these with some anti-aging habits.

Here are the 2nd half of Science-Backed Free Anti-Aging Habits.

10 Free Anti-Aging Habits in 24 Hours, Part 2 – Evening and Night

Free Habit #6, Evening Hours: Cultivate Healthy Relationships

What do healthy relationships have to do with aging and body health?

Over the course of 80 years, The Harvard Study of Adult Development has shown that good social relationships promote physical and mental health, provide a buffer against loneliness, increase longevity, and foster happiness.  The Harvard Nurses’ Health Study found similar results.

How?  These relationships reduce cortisol.

And reduced cortisol means slower aging mentally and physically.

To take it to another level, cultivate healthy relationships in-person, not online. According to another 2016 report, the average social media user spends an hour per day on Facebook alone. Using social media correlates with worsening mood, while time spent with friends increases positive moods.

Free Habit #7, Throughout the Day and Evening: Laughter

Whether through a relationship, funny book or even comedy, Find a way to laugh every day.

Laughter is considered an effective, non-invasive therapy for improved mental health and mood.

In fact, it’s been found that laughter alters dopamine and serotonin activity, and causing an increase in endorphins. These chemicals decrease discomfort, cortisol (1) , and depressed moods (2).

Free Habit #8, from Evening Through Mid-Morning: Intermittent Fasting

Around 7 pm in the evening, consider starting a daily intermittent fast to slow aging.

Why?

There are many documented benefits to intermittent fasting.

These include:

  • Improve cholesterol markers
  • Reduced triglycerides
  • Improved aging
  • Weight loss without negative cellular adaptations
  • Reduced risk of Diabetes
  • Reduced risk of cancer and improved treatment

What’s more,

Study after study has shown that intermittent fasting benefits body systems often affected by aging, including brain health, heart health, and blood sugars (3).

To fast 15-16 out of the 24 hours per day, finish eating at 7 pm each day, and fast with only non-carbohydrate liquids (like coffee) until 10 am or so. Then, utilize Keto Zone eating for 8 hours per day.

Free Habit #9, Evening Before Bed: Practice Prayer and Faith – Give God Your Burdens

Prayer reduces cortisol and improves mental and physical health as well.

In fact, it’s been shown to increase the secretion of neurotransmitters, such as dopamine, that decrease cortisol, promote relaxation, focus, and motivation.

If you’re using the habits in Part 1, you’re starting your day with prayer and gratitude. To complete the day and use the Anti-Aging Habits, end it with a release of burdens and prayer.

Free Habit #10, 7 or More Hours Per Night: Sleep

Good quality sleep has many health and aging benefits. These include:

  • Reduced Daily Cortisol
  • Better Melatonin Levels
  • Less Depressed Moods
  • Less Inflammation
  • Healthy Body Weight
  • Better Heart Health
  • And More

In fact, good sleep begets good sleep, and lack of sleep increases cortisol for up to 24 hours, which then negatively affects sleep again (4). Lack of sleep has also been shown to reduce mental performance and alertness while increasing inflammation and cortisol (5).
